Tel Aviv
Tel Aviv is the capital of Israel and also the second largest city in Israel with a population of more than 350,000. Though Jerusalem was designated as the capital of Israel initially, due to political disputes, most government offices and foreign embassies have not shifted to Jerusalem , but have remained in Tel Aviv.
The city of Tel Aviv was founded in 1909 on the outskirts of the port city of Jaffa. While the population of Jaffa was mainly Arab, the population of Tel Aviv was largely Jewish. Jaffa and Tel Aviv were merged to form a single municipality in 1950.
